Michelle Short is the Founder and Co-Founder of Riley’s Residence, a nonprofit created from her heart as a mother and her firsthand understanding of the challenges families face when caring for a loved one with special needs.

As the mother of Riley, her son who has profound special needs, Michelle knows the fear, exhaustion, love, and deep responsibility that come with caring for a child who requires support every moment of every day. Her personal journey opened her eyes to a critical need in Idaho and beyond: safe, loving, high-quality housing and care options for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Michelle’s vision for Riley’s Residence was born out of a desire to give families peace of mind and to create a place where residents are not only cared for, but truly seen, valued, empowered, and loved. Through Riley’s Residence, she is working to build a state-of-the-art community that provides long-term housing, respite care, caregiver support, and opportunities for individuals with special needs to live with dignity, purpose, and belonging.

With a passionate heart for families and a strong commitment to changing the future of care, Michelle is leading Riley’s Residence with faith, compassion, and determination. Her mission is to create a cornerstone of change—one that brings hope to families, raises the standard of caregiving, and builds a future where every individual is given the opportunity to thrive.

Co-Founder, Riley’s Residence

Marty Short is the Co-Founder of Riley’s Residence and the owner of Solid Gold, LLC. An Idaho native with 25 years of construction experience, Marty brings a deep understanding of building, development, project management, and community growth to the Riley’s Residence mission.

As the developer and builder behind Riley’s Residence, Marty is helping turn the vision into a reality—creating a safe, beautiful, and purpose-filled place for individuals with special needs to live, grow, and be cared for with dignity. His construction background, strong work ethic, and heart for families make him an essential part of bringing this project to life.

Marty’s commitment goes beyond building structures. He is helping build a future where families can have peace of mind, caregivers are valued, and residents are surrounded by love, opportunity, and belonging.

Attorney

Sean R. Beck is a managing attorney at Advanced Legal Planning, PLLC, where he leads the firm’s Medicaid Planning and Elder Law practice. Based in Boise, Idaho, Sean focuses on Special Needs Planning, Disability Law, Estate Planning, and Medicaid strategy.

After earning his law degree from the University of Idaho, Sean gained experience as a staff attorney for Ada County and as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney before discovering his passion for helping families navigate complex disability and long-term care planning.

He is an active member of several professional organizations, frequently educates attorneys and the public, and is admitted to practice in Idaho state and federal courts.

Outside of work, Sean is a devoted husband and father of three who enjoys coaching youth sports, exploring Idaho’s outdoors, and staying active in his community.
